Every
person that we work for receives the support of an Advisor. The
Advisor's first job is to listen!
They
need to get to know the
people that they are going to support. This happens
through spending time together, and conversations with the individual,
but it also involves getting to know the people who are close
to them -- family, friends, and staff that have worked with them
over time.
The Advisor facilitates
the creation of a plan for each person that
they work for. They help the person gather people who they
know and care for to support to help them look to the future,
identify personal dreams and goals, and all of the things
that will be needed to pursue the goals.
The Advisor
helps the person they work for to think about what
they will need from their staff as well as what
they might need from other people (such as family, friends, acquaintances,
colleagues) in their life.
Advisors assist
people in hiring, managing, and firing staff when
necessary. They help people coordinate staffing schedules,
and problem solve when staffing issues arise.
Advisors
help these individuals, their families, and staff in identifying
possible community connections.
They facilitate whatever is necessary for people to be included
in the communities in which they live.
The Advisor
helps facilitate the development
of a support circle, which involves people who have
a personal (non-paid, non-professional) commitment to the individual.
And, Advisors
liase with all relevant parties to ensure that everything is
running smoothly in the person’s life. |
